MARIAH RETURNS TO BRASIL!
Rainha maravilhosa! Immediately following the flowers she received from the VMAs (finally), Mariah returned to Brasil for two headlining shows.
She began her ventures in SĂ£o Paulo with a headlining performance at The Town Festival at Cidade da MĂºsica on Friday, September 13. In true glam, Mariah rocked the Brazilian flag colors in a glittery, figure-caressing leotard, rocking her signature curls amidst the South American humidity. She performed classic Mimi songs like “Shake It Off” as well as Here For It All lead “Type Dangerous.” Also at the Festival was the Brazilian legend Ivete SĂ¡ngalo, a vocalist and actress often referred to as the Queen of Brazil. She and Mariah shared a moment backstage together, which was recorded on video — and the first time they had seen each other in 26 years (I mean… minutes). Before Mariah’s performance, American singer Natasha Bedingfield also took a moment in the middle of her own set to praise Mariah’s impact as a legend not only on her, but on music as a whole.
Following this performance, Mariah traveled to BelĂ©m, Brazil on September 17 for a once-in-a-lifetime performance on the GuamĂ¡ River — in the Amazon. The event, titled “Amazon Live – Today and Forever” was dedicated to preserving the Amazon rainforest. Mariah performed on a specially constructed floating stage, shaped like the Victoria AmazĂ³nica, a water lily indigenous to this region of the Amazon. For the 30-minute set, Mariah wore a sparkling red dress, as she and her crew floated on the custom-built stage to perform for a limited set of fans that were on a site across the water.

The VMAs FINALLY GIVE MARIAH HER FLOWERS AND THE VANGUARD AWARD.

About damn time, VMAs. On Sunday, September 7, Mariah returned to the MTV Video Music Awards for her first performance since 2005 — this time as the recipient of the presitigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Her frequent collaborator and fellow celebrity Ariana Grande gave her a beautiful introduction, stressing her impact on nearly every artist out there today, not only as a vocalist but also as a prolific songwriter and producer. She says,”As a vocalist, there’s ONLY one Queen, and that’s Mariah.”Â
Mariah then proceeded to open her performance with her latest single, “Sugar Sweet” in a glamorous robe, which she later took off for the rest of the medley, which included “Fantasy,” “Honey,” “Heartbreaker,” “Obsessed,” “It’s Like That” (mashed up ingeniusly with production elements of Type Dangerous), and finally, “We Belong Together.” In her wonderful speech, Mi jokingly calls out the VMAs for snubbing her the years, inquiring “what in the SAM HILL were you waiting for???!”.Â
Prior to the show, Mariah was presented her FIRST VMA for Best R&B Song for “Type Dangerous.” For context, this was a category voted on by the FANS, stressing Mariah’s continued presence, longevity, and admiration in the industry from fans and peers alike. Congratulations, Mariah! Check out some videos from the show below:
MARIAH PULLS UP TO KAI CENAT'S TWITCH TO OVER *175,000* VIEWERS... & LEADS A SPELLING BEE?
On the warm LA evening of Tuesday, September 2, Mariah shocked lambs and twitchers alike by appearing on Kai Cenat’s famous livestream, as a part of his “Mafiathon 3” series. Streaming live on Twitch, Mariah strolled up to Kai Cenat’s mansion to chat a bit, arriving to the streaming room with TYPE DANGEROUS blasting on the speakers. After a bit of chatting, Kai Cenat revealed a massive poster of Mariah’s main Here For It All album cover on the wall across from the streaming desk.
Following this, Mariah, Kai and his peers placed a spelling game to honor the iconic vocabulary that Mariah has used in her songs from Debut to The Era of Mi. Lambs were in for a treat with this one, as not only did Mariah acknowledge her classics, but she also teased new lyrics from HERE FOR IT ALL that were never before shared! For instance, the word “Gruesome” (Nothing Is Impossible), “Embodiment” (Here For It All), “Estranged” (In Your Feelings), and, finally “Atrocities” (Jesus I Do). Although most of these words went over the heads of the other “contestants,” this quickly became a treasured moment for lambs and a clever way to emphasize Mariah’s ingenuity as a songwriter in anticipation of the new music to come. Mariah even sang a little bit of Heartbreaker acapella, to provide context for the iconic word “incessantly” that is in the chorus of this smash hit.Â
The stream was a massive success, spawning over 175,000 live viewers, and over 600,000 views on YouTube as of September 16th. Stay tuned for future moments between Mariah and Kai, as Mariah seemed to tease a concept she has for Christmas this year (NOT YET!) that she believed Kai could be a good fit for.

mariah receives bet ultimate icon award, performs type dangerous
Might as well start with the Ultimate Icon Award! This is how Mariah started her acceptance speech for the BET Ultimate icon award at the 2025 BET Awards – Live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, CA. For context, this was the FIRST ever BET Award Mariah received in her 35 minute plus career, so naturally this was a major moment. The award was introduced by Mariah’s good friend, frequent collaborator and hip-hop icon Busta Rhymes, who praised her as a staple to the hip-hop community and playfully encouraged the audience to “please, get your ass up” for Mariah Carey as she came out to accept the award.
Prior to Mariah accepting this award (in a dazzling white ensemble nonetheless), Mariah gave a very special performance of Type Dangerous. Amidst a spectacular mosaic of her MC emblem checkering the stage design behind her, Mariah brought Type Dangerous to life, and surprised the crowd with the hip-hop legend Rakim making an appearance! For those who may not know, Eric B and Rakim’s 1987 smash “Eric B Is President” is sampled in Type Dangerous. BET described this moment best, stressing how this collaboration “brought generations of music greatness together in one electrifying performance- blending Mariah’s signature vocals with Rakim’s lyrical mastery.”
